Sometimes it is useful to be able to see the SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX or COUNT of a range of cells as part of building an Excel model.
It’s not always necessary to have these functions embedded/entered in the model as the requirement may be just to verify some entries.
So rather than entering a formula into a cell to, for example see the AVERAGE of a range of numbers, you can tell Excel to show the result of this formula without entering a formula

When you have turned on the required FUNCTION you will then be able to quickly see the results of these in the banner at the bottom right of the Excel pane.
