Using the IFS functions

You are probably aware of the various functions to SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE that utilise the IF function.

For example =SUMIF(I5:I10,”Apples”,J5:J10) will sum all the values in column J where the respective cell in column I contains the string ‘Apples’

This IF function can be expanded to be used where more than one criteria is TRUE

The following example shows how the SUMIFS function works

The function is built as follows –

=SUMIFS(Range_to_sum, Range_of_Criteria1, Criteria1_value, Range_of_Criteria2, Criteria2_value)

The IFS function can be used with many other functions such as COUNT, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN
